kah2004's Diaryland Diary

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Only an American would...

So... as Lance Armstrong stomped into the finish line for the win of Stage 16 Time Trial on Alpe d'Huez... it all made it worth it that I woke up at 6 am to watch the event live...

because in the last 400 m (more or less) there, written in big white paint, the following message was across the road way:

RIP OFF THEIR
BALLS, LANCE

That totally made it worth it to be up that early this morning to see... plus the fake that LA started 2 minutes after Ivan Basso and passed him... and was the only cyclist to ride that Stage (today) in under 40 minutes!!

But yeah... that lil' message prolly is a reference to his surviving testicular cancer... but *damn* I'm pretty damn sure some fellow Texans or Americans (in generally) were the ones who wrote that... *chuckles*

Yep... he won and added to his overall lead with a time of 39:42 minutes... beating Jan Ullrich by 1:01 minutes (ironically enough, he beat Ullrich by 1:01 min overall last year to win the 2003 Tour) and he passed Basso with about 2 km to go!! it was CRAZY!!!

so... tomorrow Stage 17 is also crucial, specially after the 15.5 km uphill mountain climb today and then the last and final TT on Saturday... followed by Stage 20 & Paris & the ride into Champ-Elysees on Sunday!!

And now... there's no frigging doubt that Armstrong can win his 6th straight tour!! GO LA!! woohoo!!

And with over 900,000+ ppl on the entire Stage.... it was absolutely aweseome to see the crowd cheer on every single of the 155 riders the entire friggin way up that mountain!! woo-hoo for the fans baby!!
